David Fasanelli and Rogelio Hernandez have been in Wadsworth since April 2001. These two entrepreneurs have taken over the location formerly occupied by the old L & K Restaurant and, afterward, Denny's Restaurant and have completely remodeled the building to bring the gala feel of the Southwest to our doorstep. Their newest creation, Casa del Rio, has been open since April 2001 and specializes in authentic Mexican food with a bit of Tex-Mex thrown in for good measure. Rogelio and David recognized the potential of their highway location on their very first visit to Wadsworth. Throughout the extensive remodeling phase, excitement continued to build as people kept stopping by to find out how soon they would be open. Sixteen months later, Casa del Rio is pulling steady crowds from Wadsworth, Medina, Rittman, Barbarton, and even the Copley area. Rogelio attests to the authenticity of their food saying, "We cook in the restaurant just like we do in our own home. We do have a couple items on the menu that are Tex-Mex but everything else is purely Mexican." The entire menu has proven to be very popular with their guests and Casa del Rio is becoming quite well known for their chimichangas, fajitas, and their shrimp dishes made with large, plump, tender shrimp. Everything is made from scratch from the best ingredients they can find and freshness is guaranteed by the three deliveries that are needed each week to keep the kitchen supplied. Casa del Rio provides a comfortable, family type atmosphere with eye-appealing decor. Smoking and non-smoking sections are available and they have a full liquor license complete with beer and wine sales on Sundays. They have been blessed with an exceptionally consistent staff who have been with them since the restaurant first opened so you always receive the same great food and service and reservations are never required as the restaurant operates on a first come, first served basis. David and Rogelio believe their success has come not only from their their hard work, good food, and fast, friendly service but also due to the support of their customers and being located in a great community. Casa del Rio has become a valued corporate citizen in Wadsworth with their sponsorship of a local softball team, the annual Blue Tip Festival, and their support of the local school system proving once again that whenever businesses and citizens work hand in hand, wonderful things can happen! The Casa del Rio occasionally features the musical entertainment of a Mariachi band that wanders through the tables with trumpet and guitar, serenading the guests as they dine in true Mexican tradition. Make plans to grab your sombrero and head on over to Casa del Rio soon and don't forget to tell them that The Advocate sent you!
